Forks Over Knives: Must See!

Ahh Thursday! Can you feel that? The itch. The itch to leave your nine to five up on a shelf and enjoy a night out? Need something fun to do without risking waking up clinging to a toilet bowl? Perfect, go see Forks Over Knives! P.S. All other itches should be treated by a doctor...

Anyways, it takes a really intriguing film to get me to walk thru the doors of a movie theater. (I heart Netfilx!) And an even better film to write about, Forks Over Knives is a very educational documentary about our health care crisis and what we can do about it.

While life taking diseases such as cancer, diabetes, obesity, etc. are rising within our nation millions and millions of tiny pills are being produced to offset the illnesses. What if the cure could be found right in your kitchen? Start eating a plant based diet and you can. Unlike medications, the only warning and side effects that comes with this diet is a longer healthier life. Meat, eggs and dairy can actually cause an onset to such diseases above, while a plant base diet can cure them. We have been ignoring the most basic and effective cure for too long. It's time to open our eyes to a new way to fight disease and take our future into our own hands. Watching this film is the perfect start!

Let's put down our knives and raise our forks to the team who made this phenomenal documentary, Forks Over Knives!

Palm Springs Get Away: The Andalusian Court

A new love has entered my life, The Andalusian Court! This charming Spanish boutique hotel is centrally located hotel in the heartbeat of down town Palm Springs. It's a short 5 minute walk to all the shops and restaurants on the strip. With 8 ultra private villas your stay allows you to escape the stresses of your day to day living.

The grounds of the property are enchanting. With lots of lush greenery, the smell of lemon tress, a view of the mountains and the sound of a serene fountain in the background slowly drifts your mind out of reality and into a much more peaceful world. All can be enjoyed laying poolside in the sun or shaded cabana. A picture perfect background to your retreat or special day if interested. The courtyard has a very romantic setting. Imagine having the entire property for you and your guests? To die for!

All 8 villas have a master bedroom and bath, a complete kitchen, dining room, living room and a private patio. Each villa is a tad different, which can make each stay unique. It could be the toasty fire place but the vibe is definitely warm and cozy. Which makes settling in quite easy. With the friendly and accommodating owners this is a true home away from home experience.

My favorite feature the hotel has to offer is the outdoor whirlpool tub located in your private patio. There is nothing better than ending your night with a soak for two under the desert skies, lighted by the stars, moon, and candles. Talk about romance...

The only bad thing about The Andalusian Court is that eventually you have to leave. This is my new favorite place to stay in Palm Springs and will be returning there at the first chance I get.

Model In A Bottle: Oh Yeah!

Frustrated from your makeup not lasting? Not me! My secret? Model in a Bottle. Some time ago I happened to be watching (I am a little embarrassed to admit being that talk shows are a guilty pleasure of mine) the Tyra Banks show and they did a special on this product, Model in a Bottle. I ordered some online and have been hooked since. This stuff is amazing. It has been a favorite find of mine for years and years. It really sets your makeup all day or night, for all you dance floor divas! It's never made me break out plus smells really good. I have nothing but good things to say about Model in a Bottle! It is a necessity! I mean, a hooker running from her trailer on fire wouldn't even notice a smudge. It is that serious! A real beauty must! Check out their website www.modelinabottle.com

Animal Acres: Adopt A Turkey!

Why take the life of a feathered friend when you can save one? Through Animal Acres you can adopt a turkey to celebrate Thanksgiving. Animal Acres is an awesome animal sanctuary for farmed animals. They help save the lives of poor farmed animals destined for nothing good, religiously.

"Animal Acres was founded by Lorri Houston, who is considered the "pioneer" of the farmed animal sanctuary movement. In 1986, Lorri co-founded Farm Sanctuary, which opened the country's first sanctuary for farmed animals. For 18 years, she directed the group's rescue and fundraising efforts.

Through her farm animal sanctuary efforts, Lorri has directly saved thousands of animals from the cruelties of factory farms, stockyards and slaughterhouses, and brought national attention to the plight of animals used for "food production." Lorri's work has been featured in hundreds of newspaper, television and radio news stories, including guest appearances on CBS This Morning, Animal Planet, and PrimeTime Live.

The sanctuary is a refuge for animals, and a sanctuary for the soul. Farmed animal sanctuaries are a place where cows, pigs, and chickens reach out and touch the human heart. The "animal ambassadors" gently teach people to extend compassion to ALL beings through one-on-one interaction. For many people, it is the first time they have ever looked into the eyes of pig or chicken, and it can profoundly affect the way people view and treat farmed animals. "

Recently Animal Acres opened their lovingly doors to 41 additional turkey feathered friends. For a small chunk of change, $15, you can feed one turkey for a month.  You will receive a framed photo of the turkey you adopted and a Animal Acres membership. You may even be able to name your adopted turkey as well. You can call 661-269-5404 or click here. Happy Thanksgiving.
